On the 21st, the Ningxia Service Center of the China Bone Marrow Donor Registry, together with a bone‑marrow collection (transplant) hospital, held an inauguration ceremony at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University. Officials from the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, medical experts and representatives from across society attended.
For many years the Ningxia Red Cross Society has promoted the charitable brand “Love‑by‑Bone + Life Education.” To date the Registry has recorded 39 600 donor registrations from the region, completed 160 successful donations, and saved the lives of 154 patients with blood‑related diseases.
Historically, patients and willing donors often had to travel to distant provinces because local medical facilities could not perform collection or transplantation. This added time, cost, and emotional strain. With the General Hospital now able to collect stem cells locally and perform allogeneic (donor‑to‑recipient) transplants, that gap is closed. In the future, streamlined procedures and better resource sharing will further lower treatment costs and create a support network that includes medical care, counseling, and practical assistance for daily life.
