Title: Outcomes of the Ningxia Ophthalmology SummitNews Summary
The third International Ophthalmology Summit “Lake City on the Frontier” organized by Aier Eye Hospital — Ningxia was held in Yinchuan on December 20, 2025.
Experts, scholars and industry colleagues from inside and outside the region gathered to discuss cutting‑edge topics such as refractive surgery, glaucoma blindness prevention, treatment of retinal artery occlusion, and ways to control myopia in children and teens.
The forum combined online and onsite participation: almost ten thousand people followed the livestream, and more than 200 local doctors attended in person. This hybrid format greatly expanded both the breadth and depth of academic exchange and clinical interaction in the area.
The event coincided with the 10‑year anniversary of Aier Eye Hospital — Ningxia. Hospital representatives reported that, over the past decade, the institution has lived by the principle “technology first, scholarship foremost.” They have introduced a number of internationally leading technologies and built a comprehensive subspecialty system covering all aspects of eye care. Annual outpatient visits now exceed 100 000, and more than 10 000 surgeries are performed each year. The hospital also embraces its social responsibility by continuously supporting the improvement of eye‑care skills in primary‑care settings.
Reflections and Insights
Vision and light are essential to everyday family life. Advances in medical technology now allow many people to receive high‑quality eye care close to home—a true blend of skillful craftsmanship and compassionate responsibility. Visible change comes from long‑term focus and mutual support, as well as from careful attention to detail and honest service.
The ancient wisdom about “light and the eye” reminds us to treasure what we can see and to use our gifts to help others see the world more clearly. May those who work in health care stay true to their original calling, may families cherish their health, and may communities continue to help one another, all watching together for the light of life.
Scripture
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.” — Matthew 6:22 (paraphrased)
