Title:
Mobile Surgery Comes to the Countryside
News Summary:
On April 26, a health‑care project for “left‑behind” elders and children in rural Ningxia was launched at the Ningxia People’s Hospital. The program is jointly led by the regional political consultative conference, Fuwai Hospital, Ningxia People’s Hospital and others, with donations from the Baofeng Group · Yanbao Charity Foundation. Its goal is to provide free cardiovascular screening, coordinated interventional surgery, and basic‑level training for seniors (60 years and older) and children (18 years and younger) who remain in the countryside, ensuring that high‑quality medical resources reach those who need them most.
The project covers all five prefecture‑level cities in Ningxia. Using a mobile medical van and a mobile interventional surgery unit, teams travel to township health centers, village committees and schools to perform heart auscultation, wearable ECG monitoring, cardiac ultrasound and blood tests. Anyone with a suspicious result receives a report within three working days and a follow‑up appointment. If surgery is indicated, the patient is treated on the mobile surgery vehicle by specialists from Fuwai Hospital together with the Ningxia People’s Hospital team.
The program also emphasizes talent development: each year a handful of grassroots health workers are sent to Fuwai for further training, and visiting experts conduct intensive workshops in Ningxia, creating a “stay‑behind” medical team that cannot be taken away. The main screening and treatment phase is planned for May – September 2026.
Reflection and Insight:
Projects like this bring advanced technology and timely surgery directly to the fields and farms. It is both a down‑shifting of medical capacity and a concrete protection for vulnerable rural people. For the elders and children left behind, getting rapid diagnosis and treatment at their own doorstep saves them a long, exhausting journey and reduces the risk of falling into poverty because of illness.
The teaching of Tianjing reminds us that the core of faith is sincere concern for those around us. Everyday mutual aid and watchfulness often give a stronger sense of security than distant promises. May we all show a little more care in our daily lives, support local health and volunteer services, and together guard the health of our community.
Scripture:
Matthew 25:40 – “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
